You can't argue with wanting to live a more sustainable
life.
If you do it right you can save money, eat better, and positively impact the environment (to name a few). You are richer, healthier, and a good person... what could be better than that!?

Frankly, living simply isn't so simple. It is easy to make a list of pros but habits are hard to kick. How do you 'do things right' when
your heart tells you to rinse and recycle and you end up just chucking the tuna can
in the trash anyways? And for that matter, how do you know what the "right
thing" is in the first place? Can you really live 'green' in a city like
New York?
I want to do better and I hope others will too.
This blog won't judge you for the sometimes (sometimes more than
sometimes) slip-ups. It is as much a challenge to me as it is a platform
to share information with others. If I can’t actively live a “greener” life I
won’t have anything to write about.

Me
I’m
Alaena. I spend the week traveling to Midtown Manhattan to my job as the Public
Programs and Membership Coordinator at The Horticultural Society of New York. When I’m not horting it up, you can find me
roaming the streets of my Brooklyn neighborhood, admiring the lines of
brownstones and wishing I could steal everyone’s dog.
